How Motivo works
Updated August 14, 2026
You need a Motivo account to schedule sessions, message a supervisor, and track your supervision activity.
Your supervision relationship
Motivo connects you with a licensed supervisor who can support your path toward licensure. You can use Browse directory to review supervisors, or your employer may help arrange a supervisor for you.
An intro call gives you and a potential supervisor time to decide whether you want to work together. Once you are connected, the supervisor appears under Supervisors in your account.
Sessions and communication
Use Sessions to view upcoming and past sessions. Depending on your supervisor's booking settings, you may be able to book a time immediately or send a session request for approval.
Remote sessions use Zoom. The Join session action becomes available one hour before the scheduled start. You can also use Messages to communicate with your supervisor between sessions.
After a session, your supervisor records attendance and may add session notes. When a signature is requested, review the record before signing it.
Hours and documents
Completed sessions that you attended are added to Progress automatically. You can also add off-platform supervision and clinical hours that you want to track.
Your progress page is a tracking aid. Most license types show accrued hours without a required target, so confirm your board's current requirements independently. Documents shared between you and a supervisor are available from that supervisor's Documents tab.
Individual and employer-sponsored accounts
If you pay for supervision yourself, your active card is charged after an eligible session and your payment history appears under Settings > Payment. Your own rate is shown in your account rather than as a universal Motivo rate.
If your employer sponsors your supervision, billing is handled through the employer. Some account, supervisor, and scheduling choices may also be managed by your employer's program team.
