End supervision or request a different supervisor

Updated August 14, 2026

You need an active supervision relationship, and supervisees cannot end it themselves from the Motivo account.

Before ending supervision

Talk with your supervisor about the transition when it is appropriate and safe to do so. Review upcoming sessions, incomplete session records, shared documents, and any hours you need for your own records.

Ending the relationship can cancel future sessions and remove access to new scheduling with that supervisor. Your existing session and hour history remains part of your account record.

Request the change

Contact support@motivohealth.com and include:

  1. The name of the supervisor.
  2. Whether you want supervision to end immediately or on a later date.
  3. Whether you need help finding a different supervisor.
  4. Any upcoming session that needs attention.

Do not include confidential clinical details. Motivo only needs the account and scheduling information required to review the request.

Employer-sponsored supervision

Contact your employer's program administrator before requesting a change. Your employer may need to approve the end date, arrange another supervisor, or keep the supervision assignment aligned with your program.

Your employer may remove you from its Motivo program entirely. That is different from changing only your supervisor and can affect all employer-sponsored relationships and future sessions.

Prepare for a new supervisor

Download your licensure-hours CSV and save any board-required documents you need. Documents shared in the relationship may remain visible, but you should not rely on that page as your only long-term copy.

When you are ready, use Browse directory or work with your employer to arrange a new intro call.
