Understand verification and expiration notices

Updated August 14, 2026

Credential review and expiration reminders primarily apply to supervisors whose profiles are reviewed by Motivo. In-house supervisors can update credentials but may not receive the same reminder sequence.

How verification works

License and credential information is self-reported when you enter it. Motivo reviews the submitted information and files manually. Saving an entry does not verify it automatically.

Review can include your license, whether you are able to supervise under that license, a state-specific supervision credential, and your current liability insurance. Payer credentials, when present, are reviewed separately and do not determine whether the rest of the profile is complete.

If you change information that affects your ability to supervise, the entry may need another review. Core fields on an existing record may be locked. Follow the page instruction to delete and reupload the entry when those fields cannot be edited.

Expiration alerts

Motivo tracks expiration dates for reviewed licenses, supervision credentials, and active liability insurance. An alert can appear in your account as an expiration approaches, including up to 60 days before the date on file.

Reminder emails are sent closer to expiration for supervisors whose credentials have completed review. The reminders become more urgent as the expiration date approaches. Do not wait for every reminder before updating the record.

Respond to a notice

  1. Open Settings > Licenses & certifications.
  2. Find the entry showing the expiration alert.
  3. Upload the renewed document and update its expiration date together.
  4. Review related sections such as Supervision credentials or Liability insurance.
  5. Select Save changes.

When you upload a new license document, update the expiration date at the same time. If you change an expiration date while keeping an older file, the form may require you to delete that file or upload the renewed copy.

An expiration notice reflects the date stored in Motivo. It does not replace your responsibility to confirm renewal requirements and deadlines with the relevant licensing authority.
